A short historical overview
Our roots
It was 1948 in postwar Greece, when Constantinos Pipilis makes the decision to create the first calciner in Attica, with coal for fuel, in the quarry area of Elefsina, and specifically in the location named ‘Bloko’, known from the years of WWII for its historical significance.
The production process was almost exclusively manual as the machinery was rare. Those years were difficult but establisher’s insistence and vision were big. Constantinos believed that the postwar era in Greece needed rapid steps to create new productive structures, to be restored and quickly developed. In 1968 Anastasios Pipilis continues calciner’s activity while the productive structure is being extended and inaugurated in a new privately-owned place.
70s
The individual company “Anastasios Pipilis”, by forecasting Attica’s urbanization and the need for quality materials at competitive price due to the rapid economic development, accomplishes a buy of contemporary machinery. These machines elaborate lime and have a big production capacity while at the same time they guarantee the quality. Meanwhile, lime in unpacked packages was available in various locations of Attica with privately-owned trucks.
80s
The years that the building activity in Greek islands started to grow, ‘Anastasios Pipilis’ company inserts pioneer and automated packing for lime in airtight sacks, something unique in Greece, and something that converts lime’s distribution throughout Greece into an easy and safe process. Lime’s recognized quality in combination with the innovative packing gave the green light to succeed in the transport by sea with ‘General Cargo’ ships. ‘Pipilis’ company’s lime is in every cobbled road of our beautiful islands, by giving white color’s wonderful monochrome! Right architecture doesn’t need color, which incorporates in the category of unnecessary decorative elements.
90s
A new laboratory area for the control of starting materials and finished products is being created. Lime’s quality is being controlled in laboratory at all stages. Lime’s quality gets ‘Special Treatment’ signature as a specific process is being followed which is: filtration, separation and long-term natural maturation.
2000s
Constantinos Pipilis, since he was a student in ‘Athens University of Economics and Business’, started to work in his family business. By developing two generations of experience and ‘know-how’, Constantinos starts to experiment with lime’s natural ingredients. In this way, he develops his idea to create an ecological color based on lime and then to extend materials’ collection into architectural and structural.
In 2003 “Evomat” is being born from the initial letters of the words Evolution Material. The concept was the production of high-quality building, architectural and structural products, products friendly to the user and the environment, with accessible price that will offer certain and special solutions.
2008 starts with Evomat’s relocation in the industrial area of Megara. The Certification ISO 9001:2008 was a fact. The same year Evomat starts its first exports travels to Cyprus and continues with Egypt and Romania.
2010s
The combination of ancient recipes and modern technology created the top in quality strength ‘Lava finish’ making known the aesthetic harmony with a range of colors that overcomes 160 natural shades. Greece, France, Germany, Belgium and Spain have Evomat’s ‘Lava finish’ as a common denominator.
Nine years later, Constantinos Pipilis innovates with ‘magnet chrome’ and secures his idea to “Industrial Property Organization”. With magnet chrome’s official presentation Constantinos celebrates the success of a Greek firm, which innovates and is being developed, with friends, architects, decorators and Evomat’s friends.
In 2013 we welcome our new corporate identity, after 10 years. Evomat’s new original logo is inspired by the ‘Runner’ that symbolizes the innate human tendency to evolve, to go on and with his passion to beat space and time.
In 2014 Evomat’s new show room starts its operation at the quarry area of Eleusis, in ‘Bloko’ location. Evomat’s show room is a room ideal for inspiration, work, presentations, shows, exhibitions, seminars.
